Summer Reading

Posted Date: 05/18/26 (02:11 PM)

Good afternoon students, parents, and caregivers,

Summer reading is going to look differently this year. Every student needs to read ONE book this summer and it is their choice. Obviously we want students to read something that challenges them or that is at least on grade level. However, we ask that they read one book this summer. Upon return, they will be given a 10 point assignment in their English class regarding the book. That is the entirety of summer reading for next school year. These changes have been applied to EVERY English course that we offer, including dual credit courses. I have attached a Google Sheet with picks from different faculty and staff members of FJSHS. I thought it would be fun for students to possibly pick a book that their favorite teacher has also read. You can pick from the attached list, but you certainly do not have to. If you have any questions, please reach out to me at bsanders@flcs.k12.in.us
